**When a survivor came to the FJC to report an incident, he was their first encounter with Law Enforcement. His main function was providing security for the visitors, workers and most importantly the survivors of rape, domestic violence and child abuse. The FJC houses offices from Helpmate, Our Voice, Department of Social Services and Mountain Child Advocacy Center. In 2018 was reassigned to the Family Justice Center (FJC) working the front desk. He has served as a patrol officer, an officer with the downtown unit, and as an officer with the department's housing unit. In July 2001, he was hired by the Asheville Police Department. The many lives he has saved are a testament to Wes’s unending generosity.Īfter serving in the Army for approximately eight years, following his military service, Detective Sheehan continued to serve his community as a Correctional Officer with the NC Department of Corrections. He keeps his appointments scheduled out as far as possible and plans to continue to give as long as he is allowed. He still makes time to donate every other week.

As you can imagine they have had their hands full over the years and Wes has demonstrated a true father’s heart. Together they have 10 children and several of them have medical special needs children that were adopted from China. Wes has been married to his wife Stephanie for 39 years. but his impact at the center goes far beyond the blood he donates-he enjoys getting to know the staff and the other donors, and his kindness makes everyone’s day better when he comes in to give. He began donating platelets in 1983 in Winston Salem and has been a loyal platelet donor in Asheville since 1992. Wes Wright grew up learning of the importance of blood donation from his father, a hospital administrator, and appreciates that in donating he is helping people he will never meet. Wes is a recent winner for the Donation Hall of Fame. Wes truly demonstrates what giving is all about and can be seen just about every other Friday here at the Asheville Fixed Site. Wes always has a kind disposition and is a pleasure to serve., Wes has donated over 300 times and in 2021 celebrated his 100th gallon donation. He can be found at the Asheville Fixed Site about every other Friday rolling up his sleeves to donate platelets. He attended Asheville High School and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Wes currently is a Senior Vice President at Truist Bank (formerly Sun Trust Bank) in Asheville. Wes Wright has been a loyal platelet donor at the Asheville American Red Cross Collection site since 1993.
